Summer Financial Aid Information

SUMMER 2024 (June-August)

Financial Aid for summer is available to current and newly admitted Lamar University students.

To be considered for an award you must:
  • Be admitted to Lamar and enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program. Visiting/transient students are not eligible for aid.
  • Complete the 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Enroll in Summer classes
  • Complete any pending financial aid items for the 2023-2024 year listed in self-service banner via LUConnect  
Types of Aid - FAFSA will determine eligibility
Undergraduate Graduate
Federal Pell Grant Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
TEXAS Grant Federal Graduate PLUS Loan
TEACH Grant Work-Study
Work-Study Private Loans
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
Federal Parent PLUS Loan
Private Loans

Summer Enrollment

The following types of aid require summer enrollment of at least half-time:

  • Federal Direct Student Loans
  • Work-Study
  • Federal Pell Grant (If student was enrolled full-time in the Fall and Spring semesters, meaning they previously received 100% of a Pell award)

The following types of aid allow less-than half time enrollment:

  • Federal Pell Grant (undergraduate students enrolled LESS-than half-time may be eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant if the student was NOT enrolled full-time in the Fall and Spring semesters, meaning they previously received less than 100% of a Pell award). 
  • TEACH Grant

TEXAS Grant requires summer enrollment of at least 9 credit hours.
